on

The NRAI Bengaluru Chapter members had a meeting on 20th December 2016 with the City Police Commissioner, Mr. N.S. Megharik. Relevant points discussed in the meeting are as given below:

1. Permission has been granted for restaurants operations on 31 st December up to 2 AM.

2. The focus is on safety of senior citizens, women and children in and around all establishments.

This is to be of prime importance and a priority for all organisers.

3. CCTV cameras must be checked and should be in working condition.

4. Extra security / bouncers to be deployed as required in order to enhance security.

5. All establishments to conduct Fire and Emergency drills along with their staff.

6. All staff members to be briefed to stay vigilant for reporting any suspicious persons and objects.

7. Phone numbers of relevant police officials (ACP, DCP, Inspectors, SI, constables) should be readily available with the management. In addition to using 100, all other social media communication means are to be used. 948080 followed by 1000 is the control room whatsapp; 1100 for central; 1900 for traffic west; 1800 for traffic east. This is the most effective way to contact your senior police officers and get their attention almost immediately.

8. The police department has been instrumental in pushing and making sure the 1:00AM deadline
is applicable on all days and for which the Commissioner noted that we were also important stakeholders in effecting the same.

9. The Commissioner reiterated that year end celebrations should be enjoyed by all, and events should be held responsibly. While the department will make sure that law is enforced, they are here to help and assist the general public and all establishments.

10. We should carry the spirit of Bangalore forward and achieve much more together. Let us together make sure that this year’s Christmas and New Year is a memorable one.

11. Formal communication from the Commissioner is likely soon, and will be forwarded.
