BENGALURU: Get ready to shell out more for your booze hereon. Thanks to the new excise policy and an increase in the excise licence fee, you will have to pay 10 to 12 per cent more on the price of liquor, said Ashish Kothare, Bengaluru Chapter head, National Restaurants Association of India.
The consumption rate for beer is much more than other liquors and its sale usually surges with the rise in temperature during summer. But incidentally, this year the sale of beer started increasing since December because winter was not as cold, Kothare said.
He told Express that they were glad that bars and restaurants were now allowed to stay open till 1am during weekends.
However, Kothare added that in the recent state budget, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that the excise licence renewal fee will be increased by 25 per cent. “This means we need to put in more money. This will reflect on the consumers,” he said.
