Yellow Chilli Agra accuses local administration officers of bias

Owner registers counter complaint against local officials claiming the targeted raid has ulterior motives.

Anil Agarwal, owner of the Agra branch of the Yellow Chilli restaurant has denied the charges of environment and hygiene violations claiming to be the victim of raid on his restaurant.

The Agra administration sealed the restaurant this Wednesday claiming violating environmental norms. Officials spotted a live coal kiln operating along with a lack of adequate safety measures.

An administrative team, headed by additional city magistrate S. K. Singh, had raided the restaurant at around 21:30 hrs on Wednesday. Singh first entered the eatery pretending to be a customer and was soon followed by other team members.

Agarwal claimed “the raid was well orchestrated” even as he was out of town. “We use smokeless coal and that, too, only for tandoor and starters. We follow the highest hygienic standards in our outlets and adhere to all food safety guidelines. We also have a highly trained staff,” he said.

Agarwal has lodged a complaint with the district magistrate and senior superintendent of police against Singh. “The raid team came as customers and started abusing our staff. Our stewards were also beaten up,” he alleged.
