Its only the third exception globally for Wendy’s. The online biz & delivery is being serviced by Zomato and ShadowFax.
US burger chain Wendy’s has launched its home delivery service in India as well as an aggressive campaign for online sales.
India is only the third market for the world’s third largest burger brand after Dubai and Manila to start home delivery. Wendy’s does n0t do home delivery in its biggest market: the US. Its online ordering is being serviced through online restaurant search service Zomato and delivery partner ShadowFax.
“The way the economy is currently, people do tend to go out less frequently. Then there are traffic situations, parking situations, all of which are putting pressure on consumers to go out.. That’s when we believe convenience of home delivery comes into play,” said Arvind Dixit, COO, Wendy’s India.
Such moves are also aimed at steering weekday sales, which typically tend to spike during weekends. “We’re telling consumers, if you can’t come to us, we can come to you,” Dixit said.
