The restaurant industry of the tricity has been worst hit due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We will raise industry’s concerns with respective government departments of the UT Administration and try to seek breathers urgently required by the industry. This was stated by Sunveer Sondhi, who was recently appointed as the head of the Chandigarh Chapter of the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI).
Sunveer said: “The industry needs to be rejuvenated quickly as several small and midsize restaurants might not be even in a position to reopen due to the financial stress these have been subjected to due to the lockdown.”
“Apart from snatching the livelihood of many, the lockdown has created existential problems for the owners too. Restaurants have been allowed to reopen under the Unlock 1.0 following standard operating procedures. But several issues such as rent sought by landlords during the lockdown needs to be addressed,” he said.
