Delhi High Court has passed two recent orders (one by Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva dated 23.12.2016 and the other by Justice Najmi Waziri dated 29.12.2016) on the captioned subject.

Although the order of Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva states that only registered copyright societies can issue license, yet in Justice Waziri’s order the effect of that order has been diluted to recognise rights of agents and assignees of copyright owners.
