Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta had asked health, fire and building officials to inspect 10 restaurants in each ward every day for safety norms.
The Mumbai civic body continued its drive against illegal alterations in restaurants across the city with the latest demolitions and seizures reported in the Western suburbs surrounding Kandivali, Borivali and Dahisar earlier this week.
According to civic officials, 12 restaurants in R South ward (Kandivali West), 10 in R North ward (Dahisar) and seven restaurants in R Central ward (Borivali) were surveyed as part of the civic body’s intensive drive against grade-2 and 3 restaurants found violating fire safety and other norms.
In their action report, officials said 15 gas cylinders, 2 stoves, 13 heaters, an ice cream machine and several tables and chairs were seized after norms were observed to have been flouted. The drive has been an ongoing process after Kinara Hotel, Kurla, witnessed a blaze in mid-October leading to eight deaths.
