NEW DELHI: To provide better roadside amenities to commuters and drivers, the government will assist in setting up of facilities like restaurants and restrooms along national highways, a Road Transport Ministry official said.
The ministry’s priority is to provide road safety and better amenities along all national highways, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Amit Kumar Ghosh, said at a conference by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Wayside amenities will be set up along national highways to provide facilities like separate parking for cars, buses and trucks, restaurants, low-cost dhabas, fuel station and restrooms, the official said.
Addressing the event, Sanjay Jaju, Director, National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) said that finances for such projects could be easily arranged.
