The New Delhi government today, issued its notification allowing microbreweries to operate.
Its been a two-year push by the NRAI, but the Delhi government’s notification granting the L-11 license for microbreweries to operate is being received with cheer.
“We are really happy that Delhi has joined the growing ranks of cities in India with microbreweries. It will go a long way in making the F&B scene in Delhi more vibrant, while encouraging a whole new world of artisanal craft beer,” said Riyaaz Amlani, president, NRAI.
The Delhi government’s green signal for micro-breweries is the direct result of the NRAI presenting a persuasive case to the government via its excise department.
A New Delhi microbrewery now has can go upto 1000 litres per day of installed capacity. The license fee for capacity upto 500 litres per day is INR 2,50,000/- and double that for installed capacity upto 1000 litres per day. However, the excise duty on the beer at manufacturing stage is INR 40/- per bulk litre.
The security deposit is listed at INR 20 lakh and a solvency certificate of INR 50 lakh is needed too. To be eligible for the microbrewery L-11 license, the operator must also have the L-16, L-17, L-18 or L-19 licenses.
