Novex Communication Pvt. Ltd. had filed a case against the NRAI asking the association withdraw its letters to them. These letters stated that Novex could not carry on the business of granting music licenses without being registered as a copyright society. Similar communication was circulated to members by the Association.

In addition to the withdrawal of letters, Novex had also pressed for claim of Rs 1 Crore towards damages to its business.
