Gurgaon-based Splitkart E services Pvt. Ltd., the company behind Android app Splitkart that allows users to browse restaurant deals and split bills through a mobile wallet, has raised seed funding from Snapdeal’s CPO Anand Chandrasekaran. Anand is an active angel investor who joined Snapdeal from Bharti Airtel in June this year.
Founded in June by Sharique Khan and Manojeet Sinha, Splitkart acts as a platform for discovering deals from nearby restaurants and pubs in the NCR region. Users can then coordinate and plan their outing using the app’s group chat feature. Users can then conveniently split & pay the bill from the app. The app also integrates sharing on WhatsApp, Facebook, Google+, etc., letting users easily share restaurant deals and check-ins on social media.
The Android app has 500-1,000 downloads so far. The restaurant deals available on the mobile app are for the NCR region at the moment and the company would be expanding to deals for other cities in the coming weeks.
Prior to this venture, Khan was one of the ‘co-founders’ of Rocket Internet-backed CupoNation India and Sinha was earlier CupoNation’s country head for India, Australia and Singapore.
