There are many apps and sites that allows you to buy food online from your favorite restaurant. But what if you wanted a main course from one restaurant and dessert from another? Food mash is a web and mobile (Android) application that enables you to do all that.
Now, users can order two and three course meals where each course comes from a different restaurant. “We aggregate the food from the multiple restaurants our clients order from and have them delivered to their doorstep in under 45 mins. We focus on hyper local deliveries and each center of delivery caters to around 5 km around it. Currently we are operational in Alwarpet, RA Puram, Teynampet, Nandanam and Kotturpuram,” says Prashant Balaji, Chief Business Officer, who along with Kritish Vummidi, Wasim Hussain Asaraf, Sai Vivek Balina, Praveen Selvaraj and Saravanabalaji started Foodmash.
The idea came when the six of them met up one day and decided to order home delivery. “Each of us wanted something different. That’s when we realized many people could be in a similar situation. We found out no one enabled cross- ordering between restaurants. We decided to solve this problem,” says Prashant. He adds that the next challenge was to get on board all the restaurants. It then took them about six months to develop the site and app. “We currently have 11 restaurants on board including Subway, Big Sip, Eatalica, Coco Jaunt, Dhabba Express among others,” he adds.
In the following year, they plan to cover the whole of Chennai and in a few years, be present in about eight cities in India and a few cities in the US. “We also intend to introduce many new categories thereby enabling us to serve a much larger audience,” says Prashant.
