Howrah to get revolving restaurant on 400 ft tower

Kolkata: Soon, Howrah to become one of the favourite tourist destinations in Bengal as the step to set up of a 400-feet tall tower with a revolving restaurant at its top has been taken.

According to the officials of the Howrah Municipal Corporation (HMC), the day is not too far when the city dwellers will have the opportunity of dining out with their near and dear ones in a revolving restaurant while getting a 360 degree birds’ eye view of Kolkata and its twin city Howrah. The facility will become available once the construction works of the tower at Belilious Park in Howrah is over.

The land to set up the same has been allotted by the HMC against a lease agreement to a private group. Mayor Dr Rathin Chakraborty said this is going to be a landmark of Bengal as hundreds of people will visit the tower once it is complete.

“One will get a wide bird’s eye view from the top of the tower. One will also get to see Kolkata Airport from the top of the tower,”

It may be stated that there will be a sitting arrangement of around 60 people in the restaurant and there will be two lifts that will take people to the top of the tower in just 30 seconds.

Civil Engineering department of the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) has designed the tower that will come up at a

cost of Rs 75 crore.

One year has been set as the target to complete the project.
