Gourmet Investments Pvt Ltd (GIPL), the representative of the popular pizza chain PizzaExpress, is all set for seven new launches within this financial year. The company soon plans to introduce an international brand – Nihonbashi to India in addition to evolve their existing home-grown brands. Mumbai being the primary market, other metropolitan cities targeted for the expansion plan includes Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

Promoted by Bharti Family Office, Gourmet Investment brought in Sri Lankan Seafood joint, ‘Ministry of Crabs’ to India in the month of May. “We pride in our assets, starting from our parent company – Bharti to our management team and our partners – from different brands to real estate companies,” says Deepinder Batth, COO, Gourmet Investments Pvt Ltd, in a conversation with BW Hotelier.

With the successful opening of nine restaurants until July last year, Gourmet Investment’s Runway Project has been a new concept altogether in the F&B space. “‘The Project’ series came to existence due to the gap we see in the market. All the “Projects” (4 in number) are concept-based restaurants which are hyperlocal in nature and adapt not just in terms of menu and ambience, but to suit what our customer seeks during a particular day,” Batth adds.

“The Project” series is an extension of PizzaExpress, which has a wider offering not just in terms of menu items but in terms of concept and reach to its audience. The menu at The Runway Project has been curated by celebrity chef Vicky Ratnani, who is also the corporate chef of the group. When asked about the future investment plans, Batth replied, “At this point, we are not actively looking out for investments but should the opportunity arise, we are open to welcoming strategic partners.”
