With eight new restaurants Epicuria consolidates its position as one of the most sought after food destinations in the city

Nehru Place, famous for its computer market and corporate offices, for the past few years, has had one more attraction for the people of Delhi – Epicuria, the food court inside the Nehru Place Metro Station. On Wednesday, the capital saw unveiling of its upper floor.

With eight new restaurants and pubs opening in Epicuria, it is becoming the new food destination for Delhiites. The newly opened restaurants include some big names like Nando’s, Pizza Express, Dhaba by Claridges, Lord of The Drinks, The Irish House, Taco Bell and Social.

All the restaurants have some of their finest dishes on offer. With its 4th outlet in Delhi NCR, Pizza Express is offering a fusion of some of the finest Italian and Indian flavours fused together for their pizzas.

“We are trying to fuse the Italian flavours with Indian flavours to create pizzas that can cater to the palate of a larger group of people. We have also introduced a special summer menu which has new and refreshing flavours”, says Chef Rahul at Pizza Express. With a variety authentic Italian pizzas and Indianised Pizzas, Pizza Express is looking to please both the patrons of authentic Italian flavours and the fans of spicy Indian food. The place also had some fine wine, both red and white, to go with the pizzas.

Bringing the highway inside a Metro station is Dhaba by Claridges. The Punjabi cuisine restaurant is themed around highways and trucks, something that is very relatable to Punjab. With a truck being a part of the interiors of the restaurant, one can actually feel like being on a roadside dhaba.

The food here is authentic Punjabi with the menu having delicacies like balti meat, Amritsari fish, chicken tikka, bhuna tandoori aloo and different types of kababs. The restaurant also has a bar called Theka.

Looking at the grandeur and stylish interiors of the restaurants in Epicuria, it is not hard to forget that all of it is built inside a Metro station. Epicuria is the brainchild of Vivek Bahl, who also is the co-founder of the place.

“I got the idea of Epicuria when I first got the space and was wondering what to do with it. Then I thought of starting a food court inside a Metro station,” reflects Bahl. When asked whether the Metro commuters actually use his space, he says, “Yes, I do see a lot of people from the Metro station coming here to eat. Even if five thousand out of a hundred thousand come, my job is done.” About his future plans with Epicuria, he says, “We are planning to expand it to Delhi Aerocity, Kundli and even Chandigarh.”
