5 cafés in Delhi to go for a dessert crawl!

There’s something about the dreary heat of summer that makes us want to look for a pleasant retreat. For some, it might be about going on a chill getaway up in the hills, and, for others, the escape might just lie in giving in to their cravings for the sweet!

If you’re in Delhi, we have a list of the five best places at which you can dive deep into the world of chocolates, caramel, red velvet and more.

The Big Chill Café

Start your quest for dessert at The Big Chill Café, an American diner-style space. When you’re done marvelling at the classic vintage posters hung up on the wall, cave to the temptation of indulging in the sinfully-good Double Chocolate Decadence – a gooey base of bittersweet chocolate fudge that melts into a velvety mousse, sitting under a layer of cocoa powder. Don’t miss the Banoffee Pie either – pieces of banana poking out of silky caramel drowning in whipped cream, or the creamy, tangy Blueberry Cheesecake, all great for sending you into a happy food coma.

Elma’s Brasserie

For those looking for quiet and peace but also good desserts, head straight to Elma’s for the delicious scones here – the fluffy little monsters come stuffed with black raisins and are served with fresh cream and mixed berry jam. Or opt for Elma’s hot chocolate, which is dark and rich, and served with marshmallows, and will have you purring like a kitten.

Café Lota’s

This café is all about surprising twists. Try the apple jalebis – slices of the fruit fried golden crisp and served with coconut rabdi. Also go for a cup of Attikan coffee, a Chikmagalur roast, and your visit to this place will be worth every dime and time spent.

The Artful Baker

A hole in the wall, The Artful Baker is a quaint little café you must not miss when in Delhi or on a dessert crawl in this city. Skip the mille-feuille if you can and go for the Monte Cristo, a concoction of Belgian and hazelnut chocolate on a bed of almond sponge, instead. Or just binge on both, we say!

Di Ghent Café

Mad lover of waffles? Fret not; you don’t have to go all the way to Belgium for the best. Ride to Gurgaon and step inside the paradise that is the Di Ghent Café for Vitrine Waffles, coated with wild berry compote and almond shavings and served with mascarpone and vanilla ice cream.
