Avoid foreign travel, work-from- home, use petrol, diesel, cooking oil and gas with great restraint, avoid buying gold: PM Modi urges citizens.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested measures such as using public transport, carpooling and reviving work-from-home practices to reduce fuel consumption amid the ongoing West Asia conflict, including the prolonged shutdown concerns in the Strait of Hormuz,
Reminding the working style adopted during the Covid-19, Modi said, “We have developed work from home, virtual meetings, video conferencing and many other methods during Corona. We got used to it. The need of the hour is to restart those methods.
"We need to conserve foreign exchange" he said, “The growing culture of weddings abroad, travelling abroad, and vacationing abroad, buying gold during festivals should be postponed for at least a year.”
The PM also asked people to reduce the use of cooking oil. “I have been saying, reduce the use of cooking oil by 10%. This will not only help the nation during these times but also improve the health of your family,” Modi said.
