Amit Roy
Partner, Shilton Hospitality
Amit Roy is an entrepreneur, an F&B consultant and a restaurateur.
He co-founded ThinkTanc – a turnkey F&B consultancy helping aspiring restaurateurs set up ventures in the hospitality industry. Today, ThinkTanc is the name behind some of the most popular destinations across India – Skyye lounge (Bangalore’s first luxury rooftop bar), Puma Social Club (the sportswear giant’s only hospitality venture in India), The Open Box (a unique restaurant offering ‘twisted cuisine’), Sotally Tober (a neighbourhood pub), Sinq (a nightclub in Goa), to name a few.
While ThinkTanc was about helping clients in the hospitality industry, becoming a restaurateur was always a dream. Amit is a founding partner at Shilton Hospitality (operating the Watson’s chain of pubs across Bangalore, Chennai and Goa) and at Slug Hospitality (with a 12000 square foot bar and restaurant in Bangalore). He also set up Royanna Military Canteen, bringing the highway local cuisine experience to the city of Bangalore.
Amit’s passion for hospitality started with his involvement in the family business – Raj & Roy Agencies (a 38 year old venture that supplies commercial equipment to renowned hospitality establishments throughout India). He did his Master’s in Business and Hospitality Management from Victoria Graduate School Of Business in Melbourne, Australia. There, he set up restaurants across Australia for the “Meat and Wine Company”. Amit came back to India in 2008 to join the family business. He saw great potential in the Indian market, where people were opening up to newer experiences, and decided to set up base here.
When Amit is not busy at work he is seen often tinkering with Lego or on travelling to explore new places.
