Eat, drink and read to your heart’s content at these amazing book cafes

If reading is your passion, you need not contend yourself with your favorite comfy corner, that good old library or the terrace where you find peace to pursue your hobby. You have the luxury of browsing through black and white pages in plush, antique and creative settings with delectable food and delightful drinks pouring in. Get to know more about these amazing book cafes across India.

Cha bar, present in various cities, is a lively spot to browse through books while savouring good tea. It has book reading sessions, launches, book signing etc. that make it a really sought after destination.

Cafe Wanderlust is a ‘travel cafe’ with a host of travel books and magazines to browse through, which will inspire you to take your next trip. You can also talk to travel advisors, while munching on delicacies from different places.

The Coffee Cup cafe has a variety of books for retail along with a library with coffee table books. They also offer board games for those who want to spend leisure time with friends and family apart from bonding over books and food.

The USP for bookworms– a lovely shelf full of books of all kinds tucked on the second floor of this cafe. The cafe is also known to offer Italian and continental cuisine, vegetarian though, and free wifi!

Pagdandi book cafe, as the name suggests, emphasizes on the ‘road less traveled’ concept! Run by a couple, this cafe promotes ‘conscious yet alternate lifestyle choices’. It offers a range of books– usually by new and individual publishers and authors– along with some healthy snacks and chai.

If Goa is much more than sight-seeing or lazying around on the beach for you, then head to this little bookshop which is located in Bardez near Calangute, North Goa. This cafe offers both new and second-hand books along with some good food, and book-events frequently.

Exotic and inviting, this cafe overlooking the snow capped mountains is run by a Belgian couple and looks European in every way. The wooden furniture, the huge collection of books and their musty smell and the subtle music that floats in the air is instantly relaxing. It also serves amazing coffee and baked dishes.

Opened in 2012, this café has Rachna Bookstore downstairs and Bookman’s BnB, the next floor. Apart from books, one can also enjoy the cafe’s specialties like home-baked goodies, artisan and home-roasted coffees.

Launched in 2013, Cafe Bookworm is said to be one of the earliest book cafes in Lucknow. One can enjoy reading some books for free in a lovely ambiance here.

Started in 2011, Chandigarh’s Books N’ Brew offers a plethora of books to choose from along with multi-cuisine food and beverages to satiate your hunger pangs.
