Childhood snacks get an upgrade at these restaurants in Bengaluru

By

on

Tastes and flavours from childhood rarely leave us. Be it after-school snacks or monsoon evening munchies, these dishes are almost the definition of comfort food. Restaurants across the city are picking up on these nostalgic favourites and revamping them, right from the humble Parle-G to baby food, Cerelac. Here are some of our picks with which you can take a trip down memory lane.

Mazedar Maggi, The Bar Stock Exchange
Nothing is more comforting than instant noodles, especially after a night out. But TBSE has elevated the simple dish by giving it an Oriental twist. The Mazedar Maggi has fresh flavours of lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves, and a balance of sweet and spice with bird’s eye chillies and raw palm jaggery.
Rs.200 ++. At MG Road

Cheeseling Bhel, Housefull
Cheeselings take on a new avatar at Housefull with the Cheeseling Bhel. Topped with a sweet and
sour chutney, chopped onions, tomatoes and sev, this dish is irresistible.
Rs.250 ++. At Sheshadripuram

Parle-G Cheesecake, Farzi Cafe
When it comes to Indian biscuits, Parle-G is unbeatable. Farzi Cafe adds a twist to their cheesecake with this dish. The cheesecake is made with milk custard, cookie dough essence and sandwiched by Parle-G biscuits. Served with rabri and Gems candy, this one will certainly remind you of simpler times.
Rs. 355 ++. At UB City, Vittal Mallya Road

The Ramesh and Suresh, Social
The Ramesh and Suresh dessert at Social is named after the famous ad campaign by chocolate bar 5 Star, featuring twins. Made with deep-fried 5 Star Fruit and Nut chocolate bars, and served with hot chocolate fudge and vanilla ice cream, this one is pure decadence.
Rs.175 ++. At all outlets

Cerelac Prawns, Brew and Barbeque
This one sounds really out there. We weren’t expecting to be taken so far back to our childhood as
well,  but this dish is a winner. Batter-fried prawns are tossed in butter with red chillies, seasoning and a dash of lime juice, and then topped with Cerelac powder that adds a unique flavour.
Rs. 475 ++. At Marathahalli
